How One Scholar Shoots for the Stars

Limitless Possibility

At the Frazier Family Foundation, we believe potential is like the universe: vast, limitless, and waiting to be explored. But in order to reach it, you'll need something more than talent. You'll need perseverance and faith that keeps you reaching higher, even when the launch feels uncertain. That spirit defines Carina Guerrero, one of this year's Frazier Family Foundation scholarship recipients and an aspiring astrophysicist who dreams of working at NASA.

From a young age, Carina looked up at the stars with purpose. Her childhood fascination with galaxies evolved into a lifelong pursuit of space discovery. In high school, she managed rocketry projects, led her robotics team, and mentored others through Boy Scouts of America, ultimately achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

But even for those who aim high, every mission faces turbulence. When a failed algebra course threatened to stall her academic path, Carina didn't give up. She turned failure into fuel and rocketed forward, pushing her GPA to 4.0. And, along the way, she discovered a new kind of strength that comes from never fearing mistakes, but learning from them.

Breaking New Ground

Now, as a Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Honor Programs Scholar, Carina continues to break new ground as a physics major and double computer science/mathematics minor. Whether playing on the university’s rugby club or presenting a flight profile at NASA, proof that her curiosity and courage are already taking flight.

Carina's story proves that even the smallest childhood spark can light the way to the stars. Her journey reminds us that when curiosity meets courage, the sky is never the limit—it's only the beginning.
